BMPS Program Goals
WELCOME TO OUR PRESCHOOL
Bright Mind Preschool respects each child’s own pace, while introducing cognitive, social skills and language skills. Play-based preschool learning centers for math, science, dramatic play, writing and literacy, music, and creative art provide opportunities to balance and stimulate both shared and independent learning experiences.
The NAEYC accredited Mother Goose Times Curriculum for Preschool is a comprehensive, research-based curriculum that features exploration and discovery as a way of enabling children to develop confidence, creativity, critical thinking skills and a love of learning.
Below is an example of a curriculum web for a "Family and Pets" theme. A thematic curriculum provides a cohesive structure for our investigations, activities, projects and lessons.
BRIGHT MIND CLASSES FOR THE 2024-2025 SCHOOL YEAR
- Busy Bees (2 ½ + years old, we accept children into this class as they turn 2 ½)
- Trail Blazers (at least 3 years old by 9/30/2024)
- Space Rangers (at least 4 years old by 9/30/2024)
Our Busy Bee class is curious to learn! In this youngest
classroom, we foster your child's willingness to explore through fun and
engaging activities. We expose children to letters and sounds through stories, rhymes and games. Fine motor skills are built through process art and the use of a variety of manipulatives with gross motor skills are challenged with balancing, games and dancing. This creative and busy age group enjoys dramatic play time,
sensory activities, arts and crafts, science and thrives on the routines and structure embedded into the day.
Trail Blazers are developing their ongoing autonomy
and practicing social skills such as turn-taking and sharing. At this age,
children have familiarity and comfort in the classroom routine and enjoy
learning and making new friends. Here, your child will be exposed to more difficult math and literacy concepts. This confident and social group is ready to become a more active participant in their learning and may enjoy sharing their ideas in detail!
Our
eldest preschoolers are focused on building the social
and academic skills that will prepare them for kindergarten. Here,
students have lots of opportunities to engage
with others in small and larger groups as well as develop their independent work. These independent and enthusiastic learners especially enjoy longer "adventures" around Old Town.
