About Our School

Bright Mind Preschool originated after Ms. Cookie’s personal experience when she began searching for the best childcare for her oldest daughter and was not completely satisfied with her options. After touring several schools and being put on the waiting list, she quickly realized that the demand for early childhood education severely outweighed the number of available spaces. She felt that the quantity of children enrolled in a school seemed more important than the quality of early childhood education and retaining well qualified teachers in schools she toured.   

Based on research and classes Ms. Cookie had taken, she discovered how beneficial early childhood education is for young children and how positive experiences in schooling can make these young people successful later in their lives. Ms. Cookie knew it was her chance to make a small change in the early childhood education field and opened her very own preschool.

During the years, classes have evolved into more of a collaboration between classrooms where they work to maintain learning standards and develop each age level appropriately including meeting individual students where they are. The teachers challenge students to believe in themselves without limitations.

Bright Mind Preschool is located in old town Alexandria, Virginia. Bright Mind Preschool serves the needs of children in the local community and greater DMV area.

We are committed to the care and education of children and strive to make our school a welcoming and fun place to grow and learn.

Bright Mind Preschool takes pride in serving the working families in our area with a full day, year-round preschool program for students ages 2 1/2 up to kindergarten eligibility.

Our preschool is committed to providing strong educational foundations. 

We challenge and prepare our students in all areas of development: social emotional, self-help, gross motor, fine motor, art, math, literacy, Spanish, science and history. Bright Mind Preschool families and staff believe that children learn best through play. We provide an exciting learning environment that invites curiosity and allows for unique educational experiences. We offer specialists that provide movement for young learners such as soccer, gymnastics and yoga.

Furthermore, for the past five years, our preschool has and is committed to offering an income-based, sponsored or even full scholarship. Bright Mind Preschool truly builds the foundation of learning for future leaders by facilitating development in language, gross motor and social skills.
